Diaspora and Refugee Ministries
Hear how our teams are responding with compassion and gospel-hope to the shifting demographics and humanitarian needs within Europe.
May 1 to May 8, 2027
for Europe missionaries and partners
You are cordially invited to participate in the Europe Missionary and Partner Retreat, which will take place from May 1 to May 8, 2027 as a part of Holland America’s 7-day Norwegian Fjords & Nordfjord cruise on board the Zuiderdam. (https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/us/find-a-cruise/e7n07r/u730)
The primary purpose of this retreat—sailing through the heart of Northern Europe from Amsterdam through the Norwegian fjords—is to bridge the distance between the mission field and our supporting partners. We believe that the most effective ministry is rooted in relationships, and this journey offers a rare space for partners and missionaries to connect in a way that traditional reports and newsletters simply cannot match.
First-Hand Accounts and Personal Connection: Rather than reading a summary on a page, you will hear first-hand accounts of the diverse and transformative work taking place across the continent. You will get to know our missionaries personally—learning not just about their work, but about their hearts, their families, and the daily joys of serving in a European context. We will highlight the vital ministries currently shaping our region, including:
Excludes:
- Transportation to and from the Amsterdam
- Hotel accommodations as needed before and after the cruise
- Transportation to and from the port
- Shore excursions at the ports along the cruise
- Upgrades on accommodation, beverage packages, WiFi, and specialty dining.

The next steps: Once your payment is received, we will pay the deposit for your stateroom and all mandatory gratuities through our group reservation. You will then receive access to a Holland America account to manage your remaining balance and any personal upgrades, such as cabin upgrades, Wi-Fi, or specialty dining.
About the supplemental fee: This fee covers all required shipboard gratuities and provides essential travel insurance and mission-required screening for those who require it. Most importantly, these funds directly support our international missionaries who would otherwise be unable to participate in the cruise without outside assistance. By contributing to this supplemental charge, you are helping us gather our entire European leadership family in one place for this vital time of alignment and rest.
Required Travel Insurance and Background Check: Free Methodist World Missions requires that all participants in this retreat have travel insurance and a background check. The cost of this is included in the supplemental fee, as noted above, for residents of the United States. Residents of other countries will have to arrange for their own travel insurance. More details are given on the registration page.
